A Cup Of Coffee {Closed} « Thread Started on Jan 19, 2007, 8:21pm »
A sigh, a glance. Mayes was silent as she sipped her coffee, keeping one eye on her Form and the other on the crowd around her. Lolita, her personal Form, sat across from her, mechanically listing off Mayes's appointments for the day.
"You have another model again tonight, ma'am," the Form told her casually. Mayes nodded. She knew that she had another model to meet, but she much preferred watching ordinary people.

TaKai walked in, dressed in jeans and a white long sleeved, buttoned up shirt. His shoes were black tennis shoes and he wore gloves. He tried his best to hid his strange arm and tried his best to keep away from others. A woman walked up to him and asked for his order and he pointed to the special cup of the day. She took his order and left. She smiled and he simply nodded without a word. TK played with the coffee for a moment, but he soon sipped it.

Mayes instantly noticed the man who entered the cafe. Her first thoughts were, He dresses... strangely. Her second thoughts were about his arm. She perked an eyebrow as she inspected his sleeve. Something about it's shape was... different. She stared for a few long moments before she finally looked at Lolita.
"Lolita, see if you can connect with that man. Something is awkward about his arm. It's not the normal human shape... He may be a Form with a damaged arm..."
Lolita obeyed without question, extending an Information Sharing connection to the man.

TaKai took hold of the glass mug with his right arm and held it tightly. His eyes widened as the mug shattered and the coffee spilled all over the place, but he paid no attention the Lolita or Mayes. The woman came over and gave him another cup, but told him to move to another seat. TK obeyed and moved, but still made to attempt to go to the two. He quietly passed them, trying not to attract attention than he already did.
"Sir! You dropped this!"
He turned and picked up his wallet. He had enough money to get through. He looked through the pictures in his wallet and looked at them strangely.

Mayes continued to stare at him, still adressing Lolita. She instictively reached into her purse and removed a large sketch pad and a charcoal pencil. Her eyes darted between the man's arm and her paper as she took down it's shape, it's texture: every detail that she could observe from this odd man's arm was transferred on to her paper.
"A Form, Lolita?" she asked absent-mindedly, knowing that Lolita wouldn't tell her otherwise.
The Form shook her head. Her voice hollow as she told Mayes, "No ma'am, not a Form... Though I do believe his mind opened to share my connection. He is a strange being."
Mayes nodded, saying nothing more. She was far to involved in her sketches now. The cafe echoed with the sound of her pencil on paper, moving quickly and efficiently.

He made it to his seat, with the cup and his wallet. TaKai looked at his hand and raised it up to look at. It wasn't normal to be human and to have an exoskeleton on your arm. He searched his pockets and found a pencil and paper. The paper had a layout for a building and it made him wonder. What had he been before? He frowned at the paper and put it back into his pocket. He finally noticed Mayes and watched her eyes intently. She was looking at him. "Is there something wrong?" He asked with an cold, empty tone. TaKai was having a little trouble trying to speak with Emotion for even that part of his brain had been damaged.

Mayes didn't look up at him at first. She was too busy with the details of his sleeves in her sketch. Finally, she did look at him. Her eyes were scrutinizing and they never met his eyes. Instead, she was far more interested in his arm.
"Stretch your arm out for me, would you? And Lolita, another sugar in my coffee, please," she muttered. Her eyes darted down again, still working on the little folds and movements of his shirt.
"How strange... so similar to a Human's, and yet..." she whispered, speaking to herself. Lolita was calmly putting more sugar in Mayes's coffee, obidient to the artist.

He looked at her, puzzled, and then at his own arm. TK looked at her sketch and saw what she was drawing and stretched out his arm. He just continued to stare at her as she sketched. He knew that she was an artist and such, but he didn't care to much. TK took a sip of his coffee and listened carefully to the sounds around him. He also looked at the people around him. His brain was recording all of this and remembering all the smells, tastes, and so on. He was different from humans, but not so different.

Mayes took great interest in his outstretched arm, working away diligently. Lolita stirred the coffee, awaiting her owner's need for it. Mayes reached for it and took a sip in the middle of her work.
"So what is it? Mutation? Multi-racial DNA splicing? Were your parents test subjects?" she questioned, keeping her gaze between her sketches and the man's arm.
Mayes waved one hand at Lolita. The Form took this as a sign to extend an Information Sharing connection to the man.

He listened to her and tilted his head when she was done speaking. He shook his head to all of them and looked at his arm. He looked at Lolita. Something at the back of his mind was trying to open. It was a strange feeling and he didn't want to say anything about it.
"Yes?" He asked, meaning the the connection was allowed.
TaKai sat there and just watched the two. They seemed strange to him.

Lolita's eyes glazed over as the connection was allowed. Mayes took notice of this, as she was very close to her Form and noticed everything that happened to her.
"You are most definately not a Form. You mind is similar to your arm?" she questioned, her voice indifferent. She was more concerned with her sketches.
"Would you mind pulling up your sleeve for me? This is quite interesting... What a unique model..."

TaKai looked at her and then at her arm. A Form? What exactly was that? Then his arm twitched. He had just remembered the crash and a bit of what had happened to him. He had been attacked by a Form. He looked at them and tilted his head again.
"No, not a form...Most of my mind has been replaced with something more efficient...my arm has an exoskeleton to enable movement."
He said, without thinking. What had just came out of his mouth was automatic. He didn't even have to think about what to say. TaKai reluctantly pulled up his sleeve to show her and saw the wandering eyes of the people. He was strange to others and he knew that.

Mayes gasped, seeming excited. She did not smile, but her lips ran with words like, "Amazing... unusual... gorgeous!" Her pencil sprang to life again, her eyes bright and vivid.
"You are such a great model... Would you be interested in being a model for me? Oh, Lolita, cancel my model for later... No, actually, reschedule. I still want her for a model... Are you taking this down, Lolita?"
Lolita snapped to life, the connection broken, and she began taking Mayes's notes.

Model? For what? TaKai looked at her and then at the window. Perhaps he should, for he had nothing else to do. He also probably needed a job, now that he currently didn't have one. He looked at her again and nodded his head slowly, accepting the job.
"Accepted..."
After that he became quiet and he didn't speak. He just watched the movements of Mayes.

Mayes closed her sketch book and placed it back in her purse, along with her pencil. She held a hand out to Lolita, who handed her owner a small card. Mayes stood, approached the man, and handed him the business card.
"My studio is located in Fessio Heights, which can be found at that address. It is most likely that you will be asked your business there. Tell them that you are a model for Mayes Theron. You will be refused no luxury."
She nodded once, a symbol of goodbye. "I can't wait to see you again, my curious friend. Good day. Come, Lolita."
Calmly, the two left, Lolita walking mechanically behind an indifferent Mayes.

He grunted and just watched as they left. It seemed that the woman meant business and he guessed that was alright. He looked at his coffee rather strangely. The way he saw things was strange and he didn't like it. He shook his head and continued to drink his coffee. TaKai had just gotten out of the hospital and everything was still a mess. He just wanted to know who he was and what had happen, but he was being tossed into a whole new life. Perhaps that the new life wouldn't be so bad, but he still wanted to know about himself.
